CORETTA JEAN McCRAE, R.N.,B.S.N., CEO, FOUNDER, SUPPORT PROVIDER
Ms. Coretta Jean McCrae RN, BSN is a licensed registered nurse in the state of Michigan. A graduate of the Wayne State University School of Nursing–Detroit, Michigan, and a graduate of the University of Detroit-- Detroit, Michigan acquiring a Bachelor's degree of the Sciences. She has been practicing as a Registered Nurse in the metropolitan Detroit area since 1993. She established We Will Wait With You, Inc., in 2021 after she needed someone to wait with her while she was having same day foot surgery and same day knee surgery. Coretta's problem was to find someone available to wait in the surgical lounge during the surgery and recovery process. The total surgery and recovery time was 3 hours, and 5 hours respectively. Asking someone to alter their day to wait with her for those few hours really seemed unreasonable. Locating someone to wait with her was more torturous than she imagined the surgeries.
As a member of the medical field for more than 25yrs., Coretta understood the needs of the patient as well as the needs of the family. When she heard family member's say, “How can I wait, I got to go to work?", “I can’t stay, I don’t have time”, “I am too tired to wait, I need some sleep”, or “What do you mean, the procedure will not occur because someone has to wait?” She wondered how often the procedures and surgeries were not performed because no one was able to wait with the patient. Coretta heard love and frustration in the family member’s voice. She thought no one should have to make such a difficult decision.
As a care giver, Coretta sympathized with other care givers. She recognized how a small break, or a moment of rest, would provide the care giver a feeling of being less exhausted. Unfortunately, she couldn't find that moment. So many times, she found herself asleep in the waiting room, or her family member or loved-one missed having the procedure or postponed the surgery because she was too exhausted to wait.
She often prayed for someone else to wait with her family member or loved one. Unfortunately, no one had time to wait. Being a care giver leaves no time for the care giver to take care of oneself.
Coretta thought If she ever had an opportunity to help a care giver take care of themselves, she would leap at the opportunity.
Coretta waited for God to show her the way to help.
Thusly, Coretta founded We Will Wait With You, Incorporated
Our experience was fantastic from the moment we met Coretta, she was so friendly and helpful. Though she is not providing any medical care, I can't express what a relief it was to know my father would be under such a watchful eye of a registered nurse.
